Formerly of Blur Studio, Jason Martin has a deep background in numerous triple-A game cinematics, trailers and commercials. A few years ago he decided to jump at the chance of working on AAA next gen games and decided to move the family to Dallas TX. Here he joined the Id Software team and became a part of the Zenimax family. Jason is currently working as a Lead Character Artist.
In this class you will create fantasy-based bipedal creatures in some form of armor. The process will cover all aspects of game character creation and implementation.
Trolls, goblins, giants, orcs, you name it!
The creative base for this can be endless, stylized, dark, realism, any direction you please. The choice here is yours; you are open to get creative as possible.
You will use a major 3D package (3DS Max, Maya, XSI, Modo etc...), ZBrush, Photoshop and Substance Painter.
Find references and inspiration and build a board. Prepare loose ideation sketches and blockouts.
Refine your design, splitting out elements and focusing in on first and second reads.
Refine Hipology and focus on second and third reads.
Finalise retopology and bake. Focus on texturing and texture techniques. Discuss materials and surfaces. Pull from references.
Finalize texturing. Work on posing and composition. Finalize model. Finalize image.
